THE GODFATHER: The gentleman put in charge of running South Africa, the hon Jacob Zuma

Each family needs a godfather of sorts. This figure is usually referred to as “boss” and is responsible for creating family wealth, knocking out the competition and looking after la familia. The Boss is usually somewhat charismatic if not right down mysterious and is also often  surrounded by a bevy of beauties; a harem of sorts if you like.

The Boss lives a very lavish lifestyle with all manner of minions at his beck and call in citadels across the country/world. It is not uncommon and frankly quite expected for The Boss to live in a palatial abode costing not one but at least two hundred million rands.

The mafia Godfather is usually quite popular, to the point of almost being revered by Joe Public. This is contrasted by fear from the opposition, unveiled criticism from the thinking man, a variety of sinister charges that will never be proven and other scandalous deeds.

South African politics has become a case of keeping up with the Zumas, the Mandelas etc. It makes you hate the fact that our parents didn’t have the sense to marry into the ‘right’ families. Now your last name is the only thing that’s certain to open all the right doors for you.
On the lavish lifestyles that they have all become accustomed to, I believe South Africans are primarily to blame, we vote for these people, let them do as they please, complain but not do anything to show them that we are not happy with the way they are running things.

It is indeed a game of keeping up with the Zumas. it is very difficult and almost impossible not to see favouritism and nepotism. It is situations like these that provide fertile ground for all manner of corruption.

Well, “The Boss” has made provisions to make sure that most of the corruption goes unpunished by getting rid of the scorpions, the ridiculous secrecy bill. Yes he did appoint Thuli Madonsela but to be honest she seems like a One Woman Army, she cannot combat all the corruption there is, plus I have a feeling she may just be a puppet, to fool us into thinking the government is fighting corruption.

And besides who will prosecute you for whatever when you have a relative of sorts in just about every sphere of government?
